Irving D. Hoadley, 92, of Syracuse, New York and Largo, Florida passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Irving was born in North Syracuse, New York, son of the late Erwin and Sarah Davies Hoadley.
He attended Syracuse University School of Engineering before enlisting in the Coast Guard during WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Cambria as a medical assistant. After the war, he joined his father and brother in the family business, Hoadley Roofing Company.
Irving had a robust love of life. He was an avid golfer who was still enjoying the game this past summer. He was a member of Tuscarora Country Club for many years where he made three holes in one during the same season while in his 80’s. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Haas Hoadley in 1983 and his son Robert Hoadley in 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan (Thomas) DiRenzo of Baldwinsville, New York; grandsons, Daniel (Elizabeth) DiRenzo of Madison, Wisconsin and Robert DiRenzo of Baldwinsville, New York; a brother, John (Ethel) Hoadley of Largo, Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Walker of East Syracuse, New York; dear friend Arlene Lawless of East Syracuse, New York; several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 10 to 11 am with services to follow immediately at 11 am at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 South Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse, New York.
