Obituary of Thomas F. Large
Thomas F. Large, 82, of South Onondaga, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 24th.
After graduating from Onondaga Valley Academy, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Rasmussen, a union that lasted for more than 62 years. During that time, he and Sharon had four beautiful daughters, Rebecca, Amy, Carrie, and Dawn.
At the start of his career, Tom worked for Smith Corona. He then became a New York State Trooper, a position he held proudly. He was then employed at Impact Business Machines until, along with his wife, he owned and operated BECS Clock Service, a passion of his, which he started in 1978 and continued until his passing.
Along with his father and brother, he became a member of the Valley’s Men’s Club, where he would later serve as President.
Tom was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Dawn; his parents, Norman and Florence (Lees) Large; brother, Robert; sister, Elizabeth; and brother-in-law, Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters Rebecca Emerson; son-in-law, Mark; Amy (John) Milligan, Carrie (Dale) Russell; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patricia Ziemba and Beverly Large; the “other Sharon” (Smith); many nieces, a nephew, neighbors, friends; and his beloved cat, Bell.
Calling hours will be held at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, Lafayette, NY 13084, on Saturday, March 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will be from 12 p. m. to 12:30 p.m., with interment to follow at South Onondaga Cemetery.
